GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 Graphics Card Review. If you want a good graphics under a budget segment or if you require an entry level graphic card for your budget PC Build then this is the perfect graphics card for you. The price of the graphics card is not that stable from sometime due to crypto-currency mining and also due to GST. But, now the price is a bit stable. Actually, these two factors doesn’t affect the entry level graphics card much, it is more focused on the high end graphics cards like the NVidia GTX 1080 Ti or the Titan X Pascal. But, this card was also affected. So for now let’s begin the GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 Graphics Card Review.
First let’s discuss the specifications of this graphics card:
2GB DDR5 VRAM
3 HDMI Ports, 1 Display Port and 1 DVI Port
2 Fans and 1 Power Cable Slot (Power cable slot is provided because the graphics card is overclockable. In case you want to overclock the card, you need to connect the 6-pin power connector to the card from your Power Supply.)
A Metallic Plate present at the back to keep the card cool.
Now, let’s begin the review.
As I said earlier, this graphic card is overclockable, but this has got three modes which are in-built in the system. You can download the Aorus Graphic Engine from the Gigabyte’s website to adjust the graphics card’s settings. In the Silent Mode the GPU boost clock is 1455 MHz and the Memory Clock speed is 7008 MHz. In the Gaming Mode 1531 MHz and Memory Clock speed is 7008 MHz. In the OC Mode 1556 MHz and the Memory Clock speed is 7008 MHz. You can customize each and everything in the Aorus Graphic Engine. This card has got RGB LEDs. Basically, these are not RGB LEDs, they are just normal LEDs which change the colour. It can also be controlled by the Aorus Engine. The fan speed can also be controlled by the same. You can customize when the fan will start and stop. There is a FAN STOP LED indicator that shows whether the fan is running or not. If the LED is running then the fan is on and if the LED is not on then the fan is not running.
Firstly, let me tell you that I tested the games in the 1080p resolution at highest setting possible, but if you will reduce the settings then obviously it is going to perform much better. My PC configuration is i7-4790 with 8GB RAM and a 600W power supply. In order to test the graphics card performance, I chose to play 5 games mentioned below. Now, if you think that I should add some more games, then do let me know in the comment box down below. I will add those games in my future graphics card review. So, let’s talk about the gaming performance. Here are the games that I played and the average FPS that I got are also given below.
- Crysis 3 – 38FPS
- GTA V – 70FPS
- Overwatch – 78FPS
- Cruisin Cars – 85FPS
- CS:GO – 169FPS
These all games were performing well in my PC configuration and on this graphics card in the gaming mode of the Aorus Graphic Engine. This was the performance of the graphics card by Gigabyte.
Should you but this Graphics Card?
This graphic card is amazing for its price. Although it is a bit costlier than its rivals, then also it is worth that price. Now, there is one condition. If you are building a PC at a very tight budget and if you just want to play AAA Titles at considerable FPS, then you can buy this graphic card. This card may not be able to run the future demanding games as it has just 2GB of VRAM. So, if you want a bit more performance, then you can consider buying the 1050Ti variant. That would give you future compatibility. But, if you want to upgrade your old card or you are planning to build a budget PC, then you may buy this. Talking about the architecture, both of these cards run on the Pascal architecture.
This card is good for budget Gaming PCs. It can AAA Titles at playable FPS. Good for old graphic card upgrades.
